The idea behind the series
Children feel enormous things long before they have words for them, and they meet unfamiliar food long before they feel safe with it. The Rainbow Series gives families a shared, colorful language for both.
Each book follows the same three friends down the same rainbow road, color by color. Book one names feelings. Book two explores foods. Neither one asks a child to be anything other than exactly where they are.
Short stanzas and one idea per spread, written to flow naturally in a caregiver’s voice. Children start finishing the lines themselves by the third read.
No forcing, no bribing, no clean-plate lesson. Feelings are allowed to pass on their own, and a child is allowed to say “not yet” and still be the hero of the story.
Inspired by real family life and shaped by psychology studies, the series was made to be inclusive of every child, every family and every background.

Book one
“It’s okay to feel your feelings, as they come and as they go.”
Red might feel mad. Green might feel sick. Blue is the color we feel when we are coping. A colorful, unhurried way to give a child language for what is happening inside them.

Book two
“Sometimes bravery starts with a taste, even if we make a silly face.”
The same three friends, the same road — this time through strawberries and salsa, avocados and edamame, pretzels and blueberry pancakes. Mealtime as an adventure instead of a test.
From readers
Cute, fun, well-written and beautifully illustrated. It helps kids understand and appreciate their feelings in a new way, by connecting them to the colors they see every day.
It explains colors and feelings very well and the illustrations are beautiful. My son has SPD, and being able to put a color to a feeling helps him tell me how he feels.
This book is for all ages. I absolutely love it and am going to cherish it as a keepsake for future generations.
Free for your home or classroom
A free set of printables that turn both books into something a child can hold, color and come back to.
Out in the world

“The rainbow feels like hope. Feels like following your dreams.”
